Nikki was in Chelmsford as part of Eating Disorders Awareness Week to help out with the Moulding Futures display in High Chelmer Shopping Centre and fundraising for Beat the Eating Disorder Association: with face painting, a raffle and also selling Nikki's book "Dying to be Thin" which she was on hand to sign.
Nikki appeared in the Essex Chronicle with Moulding Futures Campaigner Tracy Shave.
From the Chronicle:
A steep rise in the number of people in Essex suffering from eating disorders is causing concern for health services and charities...
... It comes in the same week that Big brother star Nikki Grahame visited Chelmsford to raise awareness of the problem.
The big mouthed celebrity is lending her support to a national campaign of awareness hoping that her own story of beating anorexia would prove an inspiration to others.
She chatted to fans and signed copies of her book "Dying to be Thin" on High Chelmer shopping centre on Wednesday.
Nikki suffered from anorexia from the age of eight until 19 and she says the problem started due to stress of the breakdown of her parents marriage.
She said "I wanted to do something to help because its National Eating Disorder Week and Beat is a good cause which has done so much to raise awareness."
Nikki recently spoke to a group of people at Alec Hunter Humanities College in Braintree.
She said: "They all sat and listened and were very interested in what I had to say and lots of the them knew someone who had been affected by these problems".
"I just want to help awareness to what is such a hoirrible thing to have to deal with. Hopefully something can be done to raise the standards of care for people"...
