Nikki on Big Brother

Nikki Grahame picture - 1_gallery_dancing_task2.jpgNikki Grahame rose to fame in the 7th Series of Big Brother in the UK in 2006. In a house full of big characters, it was Nikki's that stood out from amongst them, you just couldn't take your eyes off her - she was just so hilarious and entertaining to watch.

Nikki's diary room appearances became legendary, with Nikki's wild gesticulations and manic arm movements as she let rip at about either her housemates or quite often Big Brother themselves. All the while unaware just how funny she was being. Even when she's angry she's funny!

She was to have no idea that, while in the house, a couple of her diary room comments had caught the public's imagination and they had become her catchphrases. When you hear "who is she? Who is she? Where did you find her?" and "I'm sooooooo cold!" there's only one person you think of.

Nikki's Big Brother Biography

Nikki Grahame picture - nikki_opening_night.jpgUnsettled and doing unfulfiling jobs and wanting a way out of glamour modelling Nikki felt she really needed to do something drastic to make a big impact. And what bigger and better impact can you have than appearing on Big Brother so she decided to apply and went along - taking a friend for moral support - to the Big Brother 7 auditions in Wembley, North London .

To her amazement she kept getting through each audition stage (after Big Brother 7 finished an Endemol producer gave an interview where they said that from Nikki's very first audition in Wembley they had marked her down as a definite to be a Big Brother housemate, such was the impression she made on them). And so in May 2006 Nikki Grahame was the last housemate to enter the Big Brother house wearing that bunny outfit!

Nikki was about to become Big Brother 7's most infamous housemate, and one of the most high profile, talked about, and successful in all of Big Brother's eight year history.

Once in the house Nikki made an impact from the get go. Not for her was she to take the easy route of being a dull and safe HM who "falls under the radar" to prolong their stay: she was honest, upfront and straight forward with people. She made absolutely no attempt to appease anyone in order to get votes (either those of her HM's or the public's) by downplaying her very strong and sometimes complex personality.

In a house full of big characters, it was Nikki's that stood out from among them. You just couldn't take your eyes off her - she was just so hilarious and entertaining to watch.

She cried, she laughed, she moaned, she joked, she was demanding, she was giving, she was selfish, she was generous, she was infuriating, she was loveable, she was petulant, she was a joy, she was happy, she was sad. She ran a gamut of emotions - and sometimes all of these in the same day!

One of the most endearing qualities about Nikki is she is always the first to admit her faults and her mistakes, always very quick to apologise and to laugh at herself, with the most fantastic and often self deprecating sense of humour.

Nikki's diary room appearances became legendary, with Nikki's wild gesticulations and manic arm movements as she let rip at about either her housemates or quite often Big Brother themselves. All the while unaware just how funny she was being. Even when she's angry she's funny!

Nikki gets nominatedBeing such an extreme personality it's inevitable that people were either going to love her or hate her, there really isn't any inbetween. So unsurprisingly she was put up for eviction 4 times and evicted on day 58, week 8 to the utter disbelief of her fellow HM's.

Even before Nikki had left the house, the crowds outside were chanting her name, "Ni-kki!". "Ni-kki!" and when those doors opened the most fantastic chorus of cheers greeted her. Nikki was gobsmacked. The crowd loved her. Some even wore bunny ears in her honour! Big Brother host Davina McCall told Nikki at her eviction interview that her eviction felt like a final night in that it was the most incredible reception she had heard for anyone.

Four weeks after her eviction Nikki (with the other evicted HM's) was given the opportunity to go back into the house as four ex HM's were to be voted by the public to live in the house next door and from these four one would be chosen by the current HM's to live in the main house in the final week and also be given back the opportunity to win Big Brother and the prize money.

Nikki, Grace, Mikey and Lea were the HM's the public voted to live in the house next door and Nikki was picked unanimously by the remaining HM's to return to the main house. During this final week Nikki and fellow HM and eventual winner Pete Bennett became romantically involved, a relationship that wasn't to last and they split up shortly after leaving the house.

Nikki's return to the house caused controversy as - even though Nikki was popular with the public - some viewers complained that her return meant they had been cheated out of their phone money when they had voted for her to be evicted. This controversy wasn't aimed at Nikki personally, as she was very popular with the public, she was just a victim of circumstance. And so because of this the Big Brother producers have since admitted that they were very worried Nikki may actually end up winning Big Brother and to ensure she didn't the producers constantly deliberately did things to Nikki to wind her up and aggravate her so that she'd throw some major tantrums in the hope viewers would not vote for her to win. It worked. Nikki was the 2 nd person to be evicted on final night, coming 5th overall.

Since coming out of the Big Brother house Nikki Grahame hasn't looked back: she has remained popular, has appeared on an impressive list of tv shows and magazines can't get enough of her. She was even signed up by Endemol (Big Brother producers) for her own tv series, Princess Nikki.
